David was born on time

At first, there is a bud. Then slowly develops a flower displaying its stunning colors and sweet fragrance. So too were David’s teen years starting out just as a bud waiting to bloom. Thought the teen and twenties of a child’s life, they become aware of the reality of adult life.

Beginning of his teen years, David gain unpleasant knowledge of his parents as sexual beings. His thirteenth year, the very start of David’s teen years, his family’s vacation was visiting the early American colonial sites of Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC area.

An old navy buddy of David’s father, John, lived in Fredericksburg, Maryland. David’s father was overjoyed seeing his friend of his younger years; seeing his home, and meeting his family. John’s wife was a great host with her many deliveries of drinks and snacks. John embrace his small family of his wife and his daughter, Ann.

“Want to see my room?” asked Ann to David and Richard.

“Okay,” answered Richard, who was looking for something to do other than sit and listen to adults talk about adult things.

Upstairs the three went to Ann’s bedroom. Ann was the same age as David. She was a very animated girl. Her brown hair was pulled back into a short ponytail that just passed her neck. Her ponytail bounded as she seemingly skipped up the stairs. She dressed as a tomboy with a red checker shirt hanged outside her blue jeans with white socks.

Ann jumped on her bed half laying, half sitting and asked, “Do you like my room?”

As they enter Ann’s room, they could tell that she was interested in boys. Predominantly in one boy. All four pink walls were cover with posters of the pop teen idol, Donny Osmond. Small eight by ten posters to 3 by 5 foot posters were everywhere. Here and there the pink walls could be seen. She even had posters on the ceiling. Only two posters included the Osmond Brothers; the rest were just of Donny.

“You must really like Donny Osmond,” said Richard who lost interest being upstairs in a girl’s room. He now rather be downstairs with the adults. At least there was food.

“I love Donny!” replied Ann in a blissful tone. “David, your about Donny’s height, right?”

“Oh?” said David.

“How do you know that?” asked Richard.

"Look,“ said Ann as she jumped out of her bed, skipped to the bedroom door and closed it. There on the backside of the door was a full poster displaying an actual size image of Donny Osmond. “See!” She pointed to the poster, “I love him.” She turned facing the full sizes poster and kissed the Donny poster’s lips.

Richard and David looked at each other thinking the same thing: This girl is weird.

“I know everything about Donny. Everything!”

“That’s nice,” said Richard trying to figure out how to get back downstairs.

“Ask me anything about Donny,” said Ann as her face glowed. “Ask me!”

Again, Richard and David looked at each other trying to think of how to deal with this odd situation.

“Come on,” pleaded Ann, “Ask me a question.”

“Where was he born?” asked David.

“In Ogden, Utah,” answered Ann. “Ask me another.”

“I don’t know,” said David.

There was a long pause as Ann waited for another question. Then, Ann asked, “In your family, there are only three boys?”

David and Richard nodded their heads.

Ann continued, “Donny has six brothers and one sister.”

“And I guess you know all their names,” Richard said sarcastically.

Ann was in her own world and did not understand Richard’s point. She answered him anyways. “Marie is Donny’s sister’s name. And then there’s Alan, Jay, Jimmy, Merrill, Wayne, Tom, and Virl. Tom and Virl weren’t part of the Osmond Brothers singing group.”

Only David saw Richard behind Ann dropping his head down and sticking his tongue out as if he just dropped dead from the lack of interest.

“Come on, ask me another.”

David shrugged his shoulders.

“When is your birthday?” she asked David.

“March tenth.”

“What year?”

David answered not understanding her questioning since she wanted them to ask the questions, “1957.”

“Wow! Donny’s was born in 1957, too. His birthday is December ninth.”

Again, another long pause. However, this was much longer. For the first time, Ann was totally silent. David looked up at Ann to see if she was choking on her tongue or some other rationale for the golden quietness in the room. Maybe she finally understood that they were not interested in Donny Osmond’s life. David saw Ann was murmuring to herself while counting on her fingers.

“Oh wow!“ shrieked Ann making David and Richard jump. “You’re nine months older than Donny.

Picture
That’s nice,” said Richard.

“That means,” continued Ann, “that when David was born, Donny was made.”

Richard said, “What?” as if his ‘what’ was really saying, “How crazy are you?”

“You know, conceived.”

Richard shook his head. It was either he did not understand or did not care. Most likely the later.

“When the boy’s sperm meets the girl’s egg,” said Ann trying to explain.

Richard and David made a gross-out face.

“How in the world did you come up with that?” asked Richard.

“It’s easy,” answered Ann. “I took Donny’s birthday and counted backwards by nine months and got David‘s birthday off by one day.”

That got David thinking. What happen if he counted backwards nine months from his birthday?

He summed up the date as 10 of June -- The same day as his father’s birthday. “What does that mean?” thought David. “Since me and my brothers are all Pisces [19 February to 20 March].

Picture
David understood. The sum equal red. The light bulb above David‘s head turned red; not dangerous red, just red-light-district red. With his older brother’s birthday on the 21 of February meant that his birth was early, David’s birth was right on the dot, and his younger brother’s birthday on the 16 of March meant that he was late. It was the only time that his parents had sex, and his mother only put out on his father’s birthday.

The red light could not glow bright enough for David. He was repellent by the thought of his parents having sex, let alone being naked.

Maybe Ann had something here. Not the summing up about his birthday to his father's birthday or to Donny's birthday. Maybe she is right about Donny Osmond. After all, it would be better seeing a nude Donny with his black thick hair, puppy dog brown eyes, and big tooth smile than seeing his parents naked.
